FTIR (Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy) Analysis
FTIR is an analysis method that reveals the chemical structure of a material as a “fingerprint” by measuring at which wavelengths a sample absorbs infrared light. The resulting spectrum is compared with reference libraries to determine the type of material and to detect deviations from the expected structure.
At MEKATEST, we analyse samples in solid, liquid, paste and film form with the ATR (Attenuated Total Reflectance) technique, in most cases without any preparation.
Fields of Application
- Identification of plastic and polymer types (PE, PP, PVC, PA, PC, ABS, POM, etc.)
- Identification of rubbers and elastomers (NBR, EPDM, FKM, SBR, silicone, etc.)
- Verification of incoming raw materials and products, supplier conformity checks
- Contamination, foreign matter and residue analysis
- Identification of paints, coatings, adhesives and sealing materials
- Comparative analysis of oils, greases and process fluids
- Support for failure analysis and customer complaint investigations
- Assessment of ageing, oxidation and degradation
Reference Standards
