In the peel test, sheets joined by spot welds are peeled apart until the weld separates. The diameter of the weld nugget (plug) left on the sheet is measured and the failure mode is assessed. It is widely used as a fast quality check on production lines.
The test is performed with a method accredited by TÜRKAK under TS EN ISO/IEC 17025 (EN ISO 10447); results are issued as an accredited test report.
Determined Values
- Weld nugget (plug) diameter
- Failure mode
- Visual assessment of the weld zone
Applied Standard
- EN ISO 10447 – Resistance welding, peel, chisel and torsion testing of welds
Related Test
If a force value is required for the same welds, a tensile-shear (shear) test is performed.
