In the chain breaking load test, a length of chain is attached by its end links with suitable fixtures and pulled to failure. The maximum force and the link and mode of failure are recorded. On request, the chain can be loaded to the test force given in the specification and checked for permanent elongation.
The test is performed to the loads and acceptance criteria in the product standard or customer specification.

Tests can be run up to 600 kN. Specimen length and attachment are agreed at the quotation stage according to chain size.
